After observing Bugs indie music chart for a few weeks, I can say that one thing I like about it is how it reminds me of good old songs I haven’t listened to for a while. By old I don’t mean from just a few months back, but as much as a few years. Last week I was happy to find that now defunct Dorothy Band‘s 소풍 from 2004 had re-entered the list at place 72, and this week it had even climbed 19 places to 53.
The chart is compiled considering the songs purchased from (50%) and listened to at Bugs (50%), but I have no idea how many purchases+listens are usually required during a week for a song to make it to the list. As much as I like finding old songs on the list, I can’t help but think that it would be better if more weight was put on the purchased songs to make the chart a bit fresher. Of course with the current way those solid tracks that shouldn’t be missed can be recognized by more people and that’s a good thing, but personally I would probably prefer two separate charts more.
